Uniformed Patrol
The Port Hope Police Service currently has 24 sworn Police Officers. 14 of these members are assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Unit and provide the core of our services to the community. All types of investigations from sexual assault, break, enter and theft, fraud, arson, theft, mischief and more are investigated daily by patrol officers from start to finish. Their efforts are supported by the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Uniformed officers are the most visible police service members around the community, driving marked cars and wearing a PHPS uniform. These officers respond to calls for service and are generally the first to arrive on an emergency scene. Their presence within the community maintains the safety of Port Hope streets, business areas and communal parks and recreation areas, helping to deter crime and keep Port Hope safe.
The Uniformed Patrol Unit's priorities are:
- Law enforcement
- Emergency response
- Crime prevention and response
- Victim assistance
- Public order
