Man charged with assaulting staff member at local tavern
A 36 year old man is facing charges of aggravated assault after he was refused service at a local tavern. On the 8th of December shortly after 8:00pm Port Hope Police responded to a fight outside of the Ganaraska Hotel on Ontario Street. The man was being removed from the tavern because he refused to leave after he was told he would not be served any alcohol. The man attempted to go behind the bar and pour his own drink when he was escorted out. A struggle ensued and the man bit the chin of the bartender tearing off some skin. He was subdued until Police arrived and took the male into custody. The victim was taken to Northumberland Hill Hospital and treated for his injury. Adam Olkowicz of Brampton is also charged with breaching his probation and failing to comply with a condition of recognizance of bail. He was held in custody for a show cause hearing and remains in custody.
