Break and Enter
A 46-year-old male and 49-year-old female, both from Port Hope, were arrested and charged with break and enter after they entered a Port Hope business after hours.
On March 8, 2024, at 5:06 am police were dispatched to a business on Peter Street for a possible Break and Enter. The business owner was asleep in the back of the business when he was awoken by a loud bang at the front. The two parties fled prior to police arrival.
The two accused parties were located and arrested a short distance from the business after being identified via camera footage. The male is charged with break and enter, and mischief. The female is charged with break and enter. Both accused were released on an officer in charge undertaking with conditions.
Mischief
A 42-year-old Port Hope male had a warrant out for his arrest for mischief under $5000 and fail to comply with a probation order, after attempting to gain access to a Port Hope Church and then damaging a shed on the property.
On March 7, 2024, the male was observed on surveillance attempting to open the Church doors with negative results, then damaging an adjacent shed and leaving his belongings inside. A warrant was issued for the males arrest
On March 14, 2024, the same male was observed on camera shoplifting from a local Port Hope store.
Later in the day an officer on general duty recognized the male on Peter Street and successfully arrested him for mischief and theft under. He was released on an undertaking with conditions. The accused will appear in court on April 24, 20024 to answer to the charges.
Public Intoxication
On March 8, 2024, A 46-year-old Port Hope the male was walking southbound on the west side of Ontario St., Port Hope Ontario. An officer on general patrol observed the accused fall to the ground. The officer stopped to assist and observed an open container of alcohol the accused had hidden in his right pocket. The accused was arrested. A search of the individual resulted in locating a powdered substance believed to be fentanyl.
As a result, the male was charged with possession of a scheduled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, having open liquor, and being intoxicated in a public place.
The accused was later released on an officer in charge undertaking with conditions. He is to appear in court on April 12, 2024, to answer to the charges.
