Assault with a Weapon/Assault Causing Bodily Harm
On the January 27, 2023, Port Hope Police were called to a Charles Street address regarding a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that after an argument, the victim had a glass ashtray thrown at her striking her in the face. The victim sustained a cut to her face that required medical attention. A 47-year-old Port Hope male was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing on January 28, 2023.
Threats x 2/Mischief
On the January 28, 2023, Port Hope Police responded to a business at Ontario Street regarding threats. Investigation revealed that a male was asking for credit to be extended for purchases at the business. One of the messages advised the victim that “Ill be waiting outside with a sharp stick and a baseball bat”. Police arrested a 61-year-old male and transported him to the Port Hope police Station. Upon booking the male into the station, he threatened officers and urinated all over the holding cell he was in. He was held for a bail hearing on the January 29, 2023.
Uttering Threats x2/ Assault with Weapon x 2
On the January 30, 2023, Port Hope Police were dispatched to a Walton Street residence regarding a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that the male had threatened the victim with a knife and told her that if police were called he would “finish what he started”. Police also learned that he had done the same thing to the victim in the summer of 2022. The 25-year-old Port Hope male was arrested without incident. Accused was held for a bail hearing January 31, 2023.
Break Out and Fail to Comply with Probation
On October 31, 2022, the Port Hope Police Service entered into an investigation for a Break Out and Theft from the Pharma-Save in Port Hope. The culprit was captured on CCTV surveillance and Police had asked the assistance of the public to help identify the suspect.
On Friday February 3, 2023 members of the Peterborough Police Service made an arrest in this investigation. The accused in this matter, Perry FAWM of the Peterborough area, was arrested and charged with Breaking Out and Fail to Comply with conditions of his Probation.

Grandparent Scam
Port Hope Police remind residents to ensure that they are aware of the ongoing scams taking place over the telephone/internet and door to door. If it seems to good to be true in most cases it normally is. Another Grandparent scam took place in the community where an elderly female was duped out of $19,000 cash on the February 6, 2023.
