Spousal Assault

Port Hope Police responded to an unwanted person call on July 29, 2021, at a Hope Street address in Port Hope, Ontario, and learned a women had been slapped in the face with an open hand by her partner. When police attended the residence for the unwanted person complaint the victim was afraid to tell police at the time what had occurred as her partner was very angry toward police. After the victim left the residence she contacted police to advise them of the assault.

The male was arrested for spousal assault. He was released on an officer in charge undertaking with conditions to have no contact with the victim.
