Impaired Driving by Durgs PHPS

 

 

Impaired by Drug

A citizen travelling on the 401 westbound on February 24th, 2021 contacted 911 around 9:00 a.m. after observing a white pick up truck in and out of the westbound lanes of the 401 highway. The complainant continued to follow the vehicle and updated police on the driver's location. Port Hope Police attended the area of Pemberton Road, Port Hope, ON, and the male was pointed out to the officers. The officers observed the male which had been described by the witness at a local business. The officers observed the male to be out of his vehicle which was parked in a field. The male was observed staggering and bouncing off  the wall of a building as he walked.

 As a result the officers arrested James Bromley, born in 1988 of Colborne Ontario at 9:10 a.m. for operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs. Bromely was released on a undertaking and will appear in Court on March 10, 2021 to answer to the charge.

Drug Charges

After responding to a possible break and enter in progress at a residence on Curtis Court, at around 5:20 a.m.  on Friday morning February 26, 2021, Port Hope Police determined there was no break and enter at the residence, however the home owner did wake to loud pounding on her door. While the officers were on scene the women observed  the same male return to the area and drive by the residence. The officers quickly left the Curtis Court home and conducted a traffic stop. The male refused to give his name or driver's license and as a result was arrested for failing to identify himself  under the  Highway Traffic Act. Further investigation revealed the male's name was Olajuwon Ajibola born in 1991 from Oshawa Ontario. As a result Ajiboa was re arrested for obstruct police. Later Port Hope Police learned the accused was on several other forms of release orders with the courts. 

As a result the accused, was charged with Obstruct Justice, failing to abide by a court order which was to abide by a 24 hour curfew, and not to be out unless in direct company of his surety.  Breach of Probation for not keeping the peace, adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid x2, and adult possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000.00. Ajibola was held for a bail hearing and is remanded into custody.
