Man charged for impaired operation.
A 25 year old Welland Ontario man is facing impaired related charges after Port Hope Police received a complaint about erratic driving. On Monday May 4th shortly before 12:00pm an officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources was on duty in the area and noted the vehicle being driven erratically eastbound on Ward St west of Hamilton Road forcing a westbound vehicle to have to drive off of the road to avoid a collision. The MNRF officer continued to follow the vehicle as Port Hope Police were notified. The MNRF officer stopped the vehicle on Highway 2 east of Hamilton Road. Port Hope Police Officers attended the scene and commenced an investigation into the sobriety of the driver after which he was taken into custody for impaired operation of a conveyance. Brennus Foster Elmslie is charged and will appear in court later in July.
Port Hope Urban Bear Up-date
Port Hope Police and MNRF officials are continuing to advise residents of Port Hope Urban to reduce attractants on their property. There was a report of the bear being seen in the Rapley Blvd and Baxter Place area on the 4th of May around 10:00pm. The bear is attracted to bird feeders amongst other things which are why officials are requested that these feeders be temporarily removed. Please visit the below site for bear safety information.
