Media Release – September 13, 2024

 

Assault

A 54-year-old Port Hope female was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault after an altercation with her husband.

On September 11, 2024, Police were dispatched to an address in Port Hope with reports of a female assaulting her husband. It was learned that the victim and the accused’s mother were attempting to have an intervention with the accused regarding her substance abuse. The accused female became angry and irate and slapped and shoved the victim. 

As a result, the female was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault. She was later released on an undertaking.

 

Warrants

A 47-year-old Port Hope male was arrested on a warrant pertaining to an impaired driving charge from July 17, 2024.

The accused was arrested and charged on July 17 for impaired driving after he was the driver of an ATV involved in a single vehicle collision. The male was found to be impaired and was arrested and charged on the scene.  He was later released on an undertaking with a court date of August 21st. The male failed to attend his court date.

On September 7, 2024, an officer on general patrol recognized the accused and informed him he was arrested on the strength of a warrant in the first. He has a court date scheduled for October 16, 2024.

 

Drug Offences

A 21-year-old Peterborough female and a 31-year-old Bewdley female were both arrested and charged for drug offences after a routine traffic stop.

On September 7, 2024, police observed a vehicle matching the description of a suspicious vehicle from an earlier incident.  The vehicle was observed to have a severely cracked windshield. The officer conducted a routine traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, the officer observed drug paraphernalia in the console.

After further Investigation, it was found that the two females were in possession of Methamphetamine and other Schedule I substances.

The Peterborough female was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Other Drugs
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

She was also wanted on a warrant out of Durham Regional Police. The female released on an undertaking for Port Hope Police and for Durham Regional Police's warrant

The Bewdley female was charged with the following:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)
  • 2 X Trafficking a Schedule IV substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer

She was was held for a show cause bail hearing as a result of an unendorsed warrant.

 

Weapons

A 57-year-old Kingston man was arrested and charged after threatening a fellow fisherman with a knife.

On September 7, 2024, Police were called to Mill Street South, in the area of the Ganaraska River. The victim, unknown to the accused, asked if he could fish next to him. A verbal altercation ensued, and the accused pulled out a 12-inch fillet knife, pointed it at the victim and warned him that he has ten seconds to leave and began counting.

The victim feared for their life and called police. As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes. He was later released on an Undertaking.
